Storage, Reuse & Disposable...
It's all a bit confusing, isn't it? Well, we've done some research for you, and come to your rescue!
We love that you can count on us, and so we've put some more guidance together on how to safely use our PPE.
Our infrared thermometer allows you to take the temperature of your client as soon as they arrive for their appointment, in order to keep your salon as Covid secure as possible.
We suggest having a pack of anti-bacterial wipes, along with hand sanitiser next to your thermometer on your reception desk. Sanitise your hands before using the thermometer, and then wipe down with an anti-bacterial wipe before recording your client's temperature on their Record Card. We recommend using Book In Beautiful - a complete booking system with paperless, GDPR compliant Client Record Cards. Click HERE for more information.
The thermometer is completely contactless using a safe and accurate infrared technology. Simply press the button for a result in either Celsius or Fahrenheit in seconds.
Our thermometers are great for testing your client's temperature, but also work in checking food, water & pet temperature!
When taking out of the packaging, you'll need to insert 2 x AA batteries. To do this, slide forward the battery cap on the underside. We recommend using a knife behind the hinge to do this so that you don't break your nails. Ensure you insert the batteries in the correct polarity, as inserting them in the wrong way round could damage your unit.
To turn it on, simply press the trigger button. Have the thermometer between 1cm and 5cm from your client and aim for the middle of the forehead. Press the trigger and the temperature will be displayed on the screen immediately. The temperature will automatically be stored on the log, and to retrieve the information, simply press the left or right buttons. For a more accurate reading, ask your client to move hair away from their face and refrain from wearing makeup.
The unit will turn off automatically.
Cleansing the lens: clean carefully using a cotton bud or cloth with an alcohol based cleansing agent.
Re-useable KN95 Mask
For staff in the salon, the KN95 masks are recommended. Below are some steps to correctly fitting the mask along with keeping it Covid safe for reuse purposes.
Firstly, before applying the mask, ensure hair is tied back & wash/sanitise your hands. We recommend not wearing makeup with these masks, as it makes them harder to sanitise.
When you bring the mask to your face, it should sit centre to the bridge of your nose and avoid touching your face while adjusting. Firmly smooth the metal bar around your nose, creating a seal, avoiding pinching or pressing it so you don't create a peak that breaks the seal.
Place your hands above the mask (without touching your face) and blow out forcefully to ensure you have a proper seal, ensuring no air is escaping. Repeat this, moving your hands around the mask.
If you feel air escaping, carefully move the mask up or down to a position that ensures a proper seal. Whenever your mask is adjusted, perform another seal check.
If you have to adjust your mask during the day, wash/sanitise your hands before adjusting.
The masks should be used by one worker, and then placed into a resealable bag with the workers' name on and then worker should wash/sanitise their hands. Reuseable PPE should be kept in a well defined place.
The mask should be safely disposed of if it becomes soiled, damaged or hard to breathe through.
Ideally, masks should be replaced daily, but we recommend be keeping them for no longer than 2 working days before being replaced.
We recommend asking your clients to arrive with their own face coverings, but should they forget, you can offer them a disposable mask. We recommend charging your client £1.
Ensure they wash their hands before putting it on and make sure they don't remove it during their service.
